The Cavalier's Commission.

Defenestration from the Prague Royal Castle - 23 May 1618.

The Cavalier's Commission - A progress update.......

While formal editing of my manuscript by the publisher continues to bubble along in the background, design options of the cover and the back-page blurb are in varying stages of consideration and completion. An enjoyable and heady time for any author. Mid-April 2018 remains to be the target date for the publication of this work in printed and eBook formats.

The attached graphics, here and above, remind us of the act that instigated the Thirty Years' War - the Defenestration of Prague on the 23 May 1618. This ominous point in history, mentioned in my inaugural work - The Cavalier Club - will celebrate its 400-year anniversary this year.

During the afternoon of that day, an angry mob of Protestant nobles stormed into the offices of the Royal Castle in Hradčany and threw three Catholic regents of the Bohemian king from the third-storey windows. I often ponder upon who, of those involved, ever imagined that their part in this deed would spark the beginning of a brutal and destructive conflict - the last of the major mercenary wars - that would persevere thirty devastating years, and outlive some of them?
